Sally Reynolds, Chief Executive
Sally has many years of experience of Social Firm development both in the UK and abroad. Areas she can bring broad and specialist knowledge to include Social Firm development processes, legal structures, marketing, externalisation and social franchising.

Sally is one of only two approved consultants within the third sector for the Customer First Standard, the national standard in Customer Service. As such, Sally is available to assist organisations under a daily rate to help them understand the requirements of the Customer First Standard, analyse their status against these requirements and undertake an action plan to become assessment-ready. This consultancy can be accessed by third sector organisations at £350 + VAT per day; public and private sector organisations at £500 + VAT per day. Kathy BakerKathy Baker, Quality Development Manager
Kathy has extensive experience visiting and mapping Social Firms around the country and has also developed the Star Social Firm quality standard for the sector. With an MBA and a Certificate in Social Enterprise Support, Kathy’s particular consultancy focus is on helping organisations in the Social Firm sector to develop quality businesses.

Nigel CudlippNigel Cudlipp, Finance Manager
Nigel is a Chartered Accountant and has held positions of Managing Director, Finance Director and Development Director for a wide range of businesses in the private sector, including restaurants, hotels, procurement, recruitment and marketing companies. He has considerable experience of setting up and running companies and can provide support on financial matters. In his current capacity of Manager of Social Firm, Soap Co. Keswick, Nigel has been instrumental in turning it into a sustainable business in its second year.

Nigel has run training sessions on establishing and running successful businesses for i'SE and for the Social Enterprise Management Certificate for Cambridge University. Feedback from attendees has revealed 100% satisfaction levels! Examples of feedback from attendees include the following:

EXAMPLES OF PREVIOUS CONSULTANCY WORK

Fokus, Czech Republic
Fokus in the Czech Republic commissioned Social Firms UK to work with them to influence ministers and politicians about the role of the Social Firm sector in assisting severely disadvantaged groups into employment, and to share the Star Social Firm standard with them. Sally Reynolds and Kathy Baker visited the Czech Republic in September 2007 to assist with this process.

Zrenjanin, Serbia
Similarly, Zrenjanin Chambers of Commerce in Serbia involved Sally Reynolds in an EU funded project that was looking at the potential for a trademark for their supportive business sector. Sally spent two days in Serbia at the end of March 2007 imparting knowledge and experience on this topic and as a result has built up links with parties in Serbia who want more of an ongoing dialogue. Externalisation
Social Firms UK is able to provide consultancy on externalising Social Firms from public authority control. Examples of where this has worked is Travel Matters, which came out of an NHS Trust in Surrey in June 2006 (www.travelmattersuk.com) , Netherne Printing Services, which came out of the same NHS Trust in October 2006 (www.netherneprint.co.uk).
Devon Partnership NHS Trust also used Social Firms UK as consultants in their quest to externalise their contract gardening Social Firm, Hillcrest Branch (www.hillcrestbranch.com) and this work took place between 2006 and 2008, culminating in Hillcrest Branch being launched as an independent company limited by guarantee in April 2008. Devon Partnership NHS Trust are quoted as saying about this work: "Sally worked with us to make sure that at every step of the way we had a clear plan and knew what had to be considered. Sally's professional advice and experience was invaluable to us and enabled us to complete the process in under 2 years and with confidence that we were getting things right!"

Evaluating ‘Clustering For Sustainability’ Project

i'SE commissioned Social Firms UK in 2005-6 to do the evaluation on a Capacitybuilders project called 'Clustering For Sustainability'. Sally Reynolds spent 10 days on this work, the evaluation report for which was completed and submitted within the required timescale and to the customer's satisfaction.

Pepsaee, Greece
Pepsaee, a support organisation for social enterprises in Greece requested help from Social Firms UK. As a result Kathy Baker spent a week In Greece exploring with Social Firms and social enterprise ways in which they can become both more business focussed more empowering workplaces. This work in June 2008 is to be followed up with a further workshop in Athens where progress and change will be reviewed.

RATES
Members of Social Firms UK can get a preferential rate on consultancy of £350 per day. Non-members pay £500 per day.
