Oxford Wood Recycling Ltd (OWR) was founded in 2005. It aims to to reduce, reuse and recycle wood and timber, thereby helping to reduce the amount of ‘waste’ wood currently sent to landfill, in Oxfordshire and West Berkshire. OWR offers a professional and competitive collection service to businesses in the region. By intelligent sorting and processing of the waste wood collected, OWR sells a wide range of timber and wood materials for garden or household projects in The Wood Shop. As a Social Firm, OWR creates jobs and training opportunities for people in Oxfordshire, particularly people with disabilities and those who find it difficult to find work.
!!NEWSFLASH!! OWR produced a six-figure turnover in just three years. Oxford Wood Recycling was started by Helen Porter and Richard Snow as a social enterprise employing volunteers and those facing barriers into regular work and set up home in Milton Park after winning a year's free accommodation in a competition. Now it has unveiled a turnover of £100,000 which has been generated by its core business of collecting, reconditioning and selling on waste wood. Director Mr Snow said: "Our sales are up 93 per cent on last year. We have got a good model now and a great team of people which has made a real difference."
