What Types Of Training And Business Support Are Available To Social Firms?
Within the Resource Centre section of our website is a ‘training gateway’. This gateway provides details of courses and course providers for social enterprise generally. There is also an online database at www.setas.co.uk listing providers of training and business support for social enterprise. As approximately 80% of a Social Firm’s business is operated along the same principles as any other type of business, both mainstream and social enterprise, our approach has been not to reinvent the wheel on developing specific training for setting up and running Social Firms when much of the content would overlap with existing courses. However, spotting that there is an element of maybe 20%, maybe somewhat more, that is unique to Social Firms, in November 2005 Social Firms UK developed "The Extra Elements: A Social Firm Trainer" which can be downloaded free of charge from the Resource Centre (http://resources.socialfirms.co.uk/resources.php?cat=7&r_id=292) or hard copies ordered for £10 each.
