Kathy Baker joined Social Firms UK in 2004 and has been their Quality Development Manager since January 2005. In this role she completed the first detailed mapping of the Social Firms sector. A major part of her current work is launching the Star Social Firm quality mark for the Social Firm sector.

Before joining Social Firms UK Kathy was employed by a local authority where she managed Disability Employment Services, led on the Welfare to Work initiative and co-wrote their Valuing People Disability Employment Strategy. However, her roots are in Occupational Therapy which gave her an extensive knowledge of the effects of disability on peoples lifestyles and a real understanding of the very strong desire people have to remain independent and gainfully employed.
Kathy has had a long association with Social Firms UK and before joining them the subject of her MBA dissertation was the ethics of using disabled people as a marketing tool in Social Firms.
