2007 Sector Mapping Information

In 2005 and 2006 Social Firms UK conducted extensive research into the Social Firm sector in the UK. A full mapping survey was not carried out in 2007 but we have updated information that we are aware of on the enterprises operating in the Social Firm sector (see tables below).

In 2006 we had 67 Social Firms and 70 emerging Social Firms totalling 137 businesses. In 2007 some enterprises closed, new ones came on stream and some firms that were emerging became fully fledged Social Firms. We found 151 enterprises operating in the Social Firm sector with the number of Social Firms increasing slightly to 71 whilst the number of emerging Social Firms increased by ten to 80. Overall the increase in the sector during 2007 was a healthy 10.2%.
