MAKE YOUR MARK - LYRICS Yo Michael man, what’s that you got in your hand? Stuff on Social Firms and social enterprise. I was thinking about starting a business that gives something back to the community, you get me? Thinking about starting it man? You need to act quickly you know. Boy, I just don’t know if I can do this though. Come on, you know, together, we can both make it happen, come on. Chorus To the people on the North side, and I’m a biggin you up and I’m a biggin you wide, To the people on the South side, and I’m a biggin you up, and I’m a biggin you wide, To the people on the East side, and I’m a biggin you up, and I’m a biggin you wide, To the people on the West side, and I’m a biggin you up, and I’m a biggin you wide, (we can make it happen, you can make it happen, you can make it happen, I can make it happen, everyone can make it happen….make your mark) Oh yeah, now follow my lead, don’t matter what colour or what creed Whatever the age, take it to the stage, this is a way that I’m now to engage It don’t matter, there ain’t no seclusion, so smash the, shatter the illusion Don’t believe in what people say ain’t true, social enterprise can make your dreams come true. Chorus Even achieving, there’s business for your dream and If they can do it you can do it, this is not deceiving You can reach that level where you’re fully level paid Aspiring aside thinking never stop creating You don’t need to be on the outside looking in You don’t need to turn around and say ‘I will not win’ What you got to do is get yourself out of the bed And do something more intrepid with life instead Chorus Well I know sometimes you get so frustrated And so therefore different people aren’t integrating Social enterprise is cutting edge We offer solutions that can’t hedge Now is the time, expand your mind What you want to do is all good and fine We’ve got business and different careers We can make your dreams appear So I want to speak to the topic at hand One thing I want you to understand A lot of people see me on stage All I want is a proper job with a proper wage Something where I don’t live off a crumb Don’t have to sit there waiting for the job offer to come Sitting there twiddling my thumbs with nothing to do So social enterprise invites you to Get up out of the chair And start turning around and saying life ain’t fair People if you will, I want to address I know how it feels when you’re feeling stressed or depressed And you feel like you’re being confined All you’ve got to do is find a peace of mind Stop, look, listen and learn You’ve been waiting a long time, now’s your turn Social Firms are there so open your eyes Take the opportunity with social enterprise They will help you live your dream Become recognised, join that scheme Chorus So what do you think of this Social Firm recording studio then? I think we’re running things, you get me? Uh huh, I like the sound of that too Make your mark!
What Are Social Enterprise Week And Social Enterprise Day?
Enterprise Week (12-18 November 2007) is an annual UK-wide week of activities and events, aimed at encouraging young people (aged 14-30) to have ideas and make them happen, for example by starting up a new business or social enterprise, or by having ideas and making them happen in the workplace. Within that week, Thursday 15th November is the special Social Enterprise Day. The aim of this day is to bring social enterprise to the attention of young people, and many schools up and down the country, as well as social enterprises, will be planning events to inspire young people through social enterprise. The organisers of Enterprise Week would be delighted if more people did something for Social Enterprise Day. For more information about Enterprise Week visit (www.enterpriseweek.org).
What The Musicians Said Below we have comments made by the musicians themselves;
 Michael Clarke said: "Helping create the single for Social Enterprise Day has been a really interesting experience. When I first heard about this opportunity, I was very excited to be part of the project. I believe music speaks to people in ways that other mediums can't; I have always wanted my music to reach out to people. I think the single will really appeal to young people of all backgrounds and help them get a better understanding of what Social Enterprise Day is all about."
 Michael Collingbine said: "To be involved in the single has been an amazing opportunity for me to develop my career in music. We created this single to engage with young people across the UK and I believe the message we are trying to get across is an important one. I feel that this single is both a personal achievement and a positive success for everyone involved in Social Enterprise Day. I believe music can help to achieve the unachievable and I hope that this single highlights the fact that everyone can make their mark!"
