Inside Government's National Social Exclusion Event:Date: 22/10/2008 Please be advised of Inside Government's National Social Exclusion Event: Tackling Social Exclusion Through Partnership - Removing The Barriers" taking place on the 22nd of October 2008 in Westminster: CONFIRMED: Naomi Eisenstadt, Director, Social Exclusion Task Force, Cabinet Office Helping excluded adults has been at the core of recent public service reform. It has been over 18 months since the publication of the 'Social Exclusion Action Plan.' Furthermore, the Government re-emphasised its commitment to tackle social exclusion through partnership last autumn, when it published its Public Service Agreements (PSA's). PSA 16 states that socially excluded groups are the government priorities. Twelve out of the thirty Public Service Agreements are focused on reducing poverty and disadvantage - an indication of how seriously this government takes the task of creating a fairer and more equal society. Futher initiatives such as 'Adults facing Chronic Exclusion' (2007)and 'Reaching Out: Think Family' (2008) have recently been piloted to prevent exclusion in today's society. This national event will explore the need for government and all organisations involved in the drive against social exclusion to ensure that a cross-departmental approach delivers for those most in need. The event will provide a timely insight into the needs of the most disadvantaged members of society and the role of stakeholders in ensuring that as with the rest of the public service reform agenda, people are are put first.
